Sale & A New Dress

In case you missed it, we’re having a huge pre-holiday sale during the entire month of October. Our entire inventory is 25 – 50% off, including all Fabric, Patterns, Notions and new arrivals.

To celebrate our sale, I thought I would make a new maternity dress out of one of my favorite new fabrics, the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Arbor Voile in Navy from their Bromley collection. The pattern for this dress is Made By Rae‘s Washi Dress, altered slightly to contain my growing belly. The alteration was surprisingly simple because of the construction Rae’s pattern; I cut most pattern pieces at my normal size, and cut the front skirt piece three sizes larger. Rather than containing a zipper or buttons, the Washi dress uses shirring in the back to allow you to pull it on and off, which suits maternity clothing quite well.

If I had the time, I would make at least 7 of these dresses so I could wear them every day. The Washi pattern is beautiful, flattering to all body types, and the perfect showcase for your favorite fabric, whether that be a voile or a quilting cotton. During our sale, all of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Bromley fabrics are 40% off, so now’s the perfect time to pick some up to make your own Washi!
